Sports Injuries: Classification and Management

This program is a comprehensive guide to the classification and management of sports injuries. Wendy Braybon, head physiotherapist at the Victorian Institute of Sport, shows us how to classify and manage soft tissue injuries (such as sprains, skin abrasions, lacerations, and blisters) and hard tissue injuries (fractures and dislocations). We learn to apply the RICER technique for managing soft tissue injuries and the TOTAPS and DRABC techniques for assessing and managing hard tissue injuries. Throughout the program we see detailed graphics and real-life examples of different injuries, talk to Paralympian Jessica Gallagher, and see dramatised scenarios demonstrating key injury management techniques

Insight: Kids and concussion

Insight speaks to kids about their experiences with concussion while playing sport. Experts discuss the short and long term effects, and what to do when a kid sustains a concussion. ( 52 mins)
