The Cultural Atlas is an educational resource providing comprehensive information on the cultural background of Australia’s migrant populations. The aim is to improve social cohesion and promote inclusion in an increasingly culturally diverse society.

Digital inclusion is a social issue.
Digital inclusion means ensuring people can use the internet and technology to improve their daily lives. This is not just a tech issue. Digital inclusion is about enabling access to everything the digital world has to offer to ensure no one is left behind.
1 in 4 people in Australia are still digitally excluded (ADII, 2023). People with low levels of income, education and employment, those living in some regional areas, people aged over 65 and people with a disability are at particular risk of being left behind.

Almost a quarter of Australians are digitally excluded. This means they miss out on the social, educational and economic benefits online connectivity provides.
In the face of this ongoing “digital divide”, countries are now talking about a future of inclusive artificial intelligence (AI).

On average, Australians living in rural and remote areas have shorter lives, higher levels of disease and injury and poorer access to and use of health services, compared with people living in metropolitan areas. Poorer health outcomes in rural and remote areas may be due to multiple factors including lifestyle differences and a level of disadvantage related to education and employment opportunities, as well as access to health services.

Inequality means the unequal distribution within society of income, wealth and goods. In this website we measure inequality in two ways: income inequality and wealth inequality. Income inequality in the unequal distribution of income in society and wealth inequality is the unequal distribution of wealth in a society.

Wherever in the world people live, they don’t have to look far to confront inequalities. Inequality in its various forms is an issue that will define our time. Confronting inequalities has moved to the forefront of many global policy debates as a consensus has emerged that all should enjoy equal access to opportunity. ‘Leave no one behind’ serves as the rallying cry of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Inequalities are not only driven and measured by income, but are determined by other factors - gender, age, origin, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, class, and religion. These factors determine inequalities of opportunity which continue to persist, within and between countries.

Our cultural background, the people we're attracted to, how we see ourselves and what's important to us are the things that shape our identity. Sometimes it's hard to ignore other people's opinions and ideas; ultimately, though, we each get to decide who we are. These topics help you answer some of the questions you may have as you make those decisions.

Our identities are made up of many wonderful parts - things like our culture, sexuality, religion, age, our body, gender and lots more. Our identities are personal, no one can tell you how to identify. You are who you are.

The guidelines recognise that individuals may identify as a gender other than the sex they were assigned at birth, or may not identify as exclusively male or female, and that this should be reflected in records held by the government.
