Martin Luther - An Introduction

One of the greatest of all revolutions was the 16th-century religious revolt known as the Reformation. This stormy, often brutal, conflict separated the Christians of western Europe into Protestants and Roman Catholics. So far-reaching were the results of the separation that the Reformation has been called a turning point in history. It ushered in the Modern Age because, once the people’s religious unity was destroyed, they began to think in terms of their own regional interests. An Overview of the Reformation
The Reformation was a culmination of events and circumstances, which led to a seismic shift in the religious framework of Europe (and the UK). So what exactly happened, and what lasting impact did the Reformation have?
The English Reformation
Despite the zeal of religious reformers in Europe, England was slow to question the established Church. However, during the reign of Henry VIII the tide turned in favour of Protestantism, and by the 1600s the new Church held sway over the old. How did all this come about?
